Conversation classes with refugees: volunteers needed

If any of you are around over the summer and would like to use your teaching skills in the service of a local refugee community, then this is for you!

The ‘Chrysalis project’ is run by Aoileann Ní Mhurchú (lecturer in International politics) and Alex Robertson (project manager at Multilingual Manchester). It has been running since October with 13 UG volunteer students who give weekly two hour english language conversation classes to asylum seekers and refugees at a community centre (the Chrysalis Centre) in Moss Side. Most of the UGs are leaving soon, but they would like to keep the project running over the summer so as not to lose the momentum. They are looking for people who could commit to a few Wednesday afternoons (4-6) during that time. I’ve offered to help and hope to go along and visit the project on May 11th, so if anyone fancies coming along …
