Corcoran, Su (PhD alumna)

Su Corcoran hails from North Wales and was a secondary science teacher in another life, and taught for over a decade in the UK and the international sector. After a number of teaching positions overseas she acted on an interest in development studies and began a winding path towards a different career direction. After a couple of years volunteering with an organisation in Kenya, Su began her doctoral research journey focusing on the transition experiences of street-connected children and youth as they leave the street in Kenya. As such she is grappling with how to communicate data collected in three different languages, her position as both an insider and an outsider, and the ways in which both she and her interpreters affect the research process. Oh and writing the thesis!
