ESRC and GTRA scholarships

See below for a message from Olwen about the latest recipients of these awards. The alert amongst yuo will note Miri’s name, but also I am also pleased to see Dimi (co-supervised by Zeynep, a member of the LTE team in some ways) and also Su (who has now started attending Narrative Natters, the fortnightly onsite discussion and support group for narrative researchers  (which involves quite a few of our LTE Doctoral Community):

Olwen writes: “I am delighted to announce that the School of Education has been very successful again this year in the award of scholarships. Three applicants have been awarded ESRC scholarships:

  • Sarah Darley-Nolan Investigating: Can eLearning help increase recruitment and retention of volunteers for the Charity sector in England?
  • Dimi Kaneva Investigating: Transition from primary to secondary education in England: Understanding the experiences of children and young people with English as an additional language in the North West/Greater Manchester area
  • Su Cororan Investigating: Educational experiences of boys and young men who have formerly lived on the streets of Thika, Kenya

 Additionally two GTRA awards were made to the following:

  •  Miriam Firth Investigating: From study to industry: Stories on Becoming a Vocational Manager
  • Andrew Davies Investigating: The impact on trade teacher’s professional and teaching identity

The President’s Doctoral Scholar Award went to:

  • Zhe Zhang (Joseph) Investigating: Undergraduate Student Engagement in China and UK
