Open Access: The Book Challenge

Much of the public debate in the period since the appearance of the Finch Report in July 2012 has concerned issues that relate to publishing in journals. However, in disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences, anything from one to two thirds of the published output appears in the form of books or book chapters. In this session therefore we examine the advantages and disadvantages that come with an extension of the principles of open access into the domain of books, whether they be single-authored monographs or collections of essays by different authors. These areas and more will be discussed by a panel of experts in the field of publishing:
