Presenting research in different formats and to different audiences: Children’s book by Stephanie Houghton
There is a lot of talk around about presenting our research to audiences other than academic ones and this book seems to me like a superb example of making research accessible to a very different audience – children!
The author, Stephanie, writes:
I recently had a children’s book published based on Mike Byram’s concept of the intercultural mediator (except the little girl has to mediate between a dolphin speaking dolphinese in clicks who cannot speak English, and the Quing who speaks English and does not understand dolphinese).
I tried to build many intercultural themes into the book, and plan to integrate it into a course on Critical Studies in Language and Image focusing on illustrated children’s literature.
