Council of Europe: Citizenship and Human Rights Education
According to the Council of Europe ‘Citizenship and human rights education is about learning to live together and respect each other. It is also about knowing and understanding your rights in order to play an active role in decisions that concern you’.
Here is the link to a children’s version of the charter, which gives a (very) simplified overview of the main points. You can access the full version through the menu on the left.
It might also be interesting to have a look at the type of knowledge required to become a British Citizen by trying out this multiple choice quiz. Not much to do with human rights and citizenship. I got 17/20 by the way 🙂 Not sure if that makes me a good British Citizen or not!
